Getting to know someone is a never-ending task, largely because people are constantly changing and the methods we use to obtain information are often imprecise. You may have known someone for ten years and still know very little about him. If we accept the idea that we won't ever fully know another person, it enables us to deal more easily with those things that get in the way of accurate knowledge such as secrets and deceptions. It will also keep us from being too surprised or shocked by seemingly inconsistent behavior. Ironically, those things that keep us from knowing another person too well(e.g, secrets and deceptions) may be just as important to the development of a satisfying relationship as those things that enable us to obtain accurate knowledge about a person(e.g. disclosures and truthful statement).

When do people decide whether or not they want to become friends? During their first four minutes together, according to a book by Dr. Leonard Zunin. As far as I am concerned, learner-centered teaching approach is a more effective methodology which highly embolden students to express their own opinions in class.
Teachers should carry out this teaching approach in the daily teaching. Firstly, more initiative should be given to students in classroom, so as to urge them to think independently and willingly. Secondly, students were presented with a menu of assignment options at the beginning of the course, and the teaching target is to arouse the enthusiasm and develop the hnguistic competence of students in the process of accomplishing the assignment. At this step I will ask my students to do two activities. Activity 1 : Fast reading
Students will be given one minute to read the short passage quickly, and then conclude the main idea.
Activity 2: Careful reading
I will give them 5 minutes to read it again. Then let them do two tasks:
Task 1: I will show some questions with the help of the Power Point which I prepared before the class in order to help the students grasp the detailed information.
Task 2: I will ask my students to underhne the difficult words or phrases. In order to practice their ability to think, I will encourage them to analyze the text by themselves first and then to discuss with group members. At last I will explain them and give some examples and exercises to help them understand.
Step 4 Post-reading (6 minutes)
In order to practice students' listening skill, I will play the tape for them, which can also correct their pronunciations.
Then I will give some key words and let my students retell the passage by using their own words.
Step 5 Summary and Homework (3 minutes)
Summary: I will ask some students to summarize what they have learned in this class. After that, I will give a conclusion about this lesson.
