Resistance Key

     Modern theft deterrent systems often uses a resistance key，which is an ignition keywith a small electrical resistor mounted on its side. Several key resistance values areavailable. The resistor has small electrical connections on the sides. The key's metal teethand the built-in resistor must match the vehicle to break security.

    The computer reads the resistance of the key to make sure it is not an unauthorizedduplicate of -only the metal teeth of the key.  If the key resistance matches the oneprogrammed into the control module, the vehicle starts normally.
