   Please answer the following five questions

 

    1) Define the major parts of a clutch system.

 

    2) Identify the main parts of manual and automatic transmission, and understand theirworking principle.

 

    3) Identify how the torque converter works.

 

    4) Identify the major components of drive shaft.

 

    5) Identify the main components of differential,and understand how differentialworks at straight and turning.

 

    Translate the following sentences into Chinese

 

    1) The speed fluctuations caused by the conventional universal joints do not causemuch difficulty in the rear-wheel drive shaft where they have to drive through small anglesonly. In front-wheel drives,the wheels are cramped up to 30 degrees in steering. For thisreason velocity fluctuations present a serious problem. Conventional universal joints wouldcause hard steering, slippage, and tire wear each time the vehicle turns a corner.

 

    2) Double-reduction final drives are used for heavy-duty trucks. With this arrangementit is not necessary to have a large ring gear to get the necessary gear reduction.

 

    3) The clutch pack limited slip differential uses a set of friction discs and steel platesto lock the axles together whenever one drive wheel experiences uncontrolled slippage.

 

    4) Power flow on this system is simple and straight forward going from the engine,through the torque converter, then through the transmission and drive shaft until itreaches the final drive where it is split and sent to the two rear wheels.

 

    5) A much less popular rear drive arrangement has the transmission mounted directlyto the final drive at the rear and is connected by a drive shaft to the torque converter whichis still mounted on the engine.

 

    6) Automatic transmissions contain many gears in various combinations. In a manualtransmission, gears slide along shafts as you move the shift lever from one position toanother, engaging various sized gears as required in order to provide the correct gear ratio.
