Filial piety, originally signifying respecting all the people from around the world and now mainly representing caring for parents heart and soul, has been prized in China since ancient times.
How can we observe filial piety? Does filial piety means buying our parents a big and comfortable house in return for what we have received from our parents: enormous love and care, which, however, we usually can't afford until we have been very successful in our career. But then, at that time our parents may be too old and weak to enjoy it. We can't take it for granted that our parents are healthy enough to wait for our successful moments. Regrets often come from a long wait.
Filial piety means trying to do what we can for our parents. Often go home to see our parents, listen to their chattering about their past and how naught we were as children and help them with their housework. Those things may seem to be mere trifles but are just what our parents expect of us considering they are old and sometimes feel lonely and so our company is the best way to show our love of them.
