各位海文学员:
恭喜大家顺利进行了研究生入学考试,接下来是漫长的等待成绩时间。咱们应该做些什么呢?耐心等待吗?当然不可以,有心人应该从这个寒假开始准备复式了,凡事经过充分的准备才能得到一个完美结果。
因此,我们教研组为大家准备了复试考察说明,包括考察重点以及必备的口语考试话题,及其应对策略。对口语的考查,各个学校各不相同。有的学校制定了非常详细的标准和流程,甚至规定了每个老师发问的方式和时间;有的只是老师的自由发挥,成绩也基本上由面试老师主观判定。不管面试是否严格控制,海文考研都要提醒考生们认真准备下面几个问题:一是自我介绍,如籍贯,毕业学校,所学专业,业余喜好,性格特点,家庭基本情况等信息。二是做好用英语简单介绍自己本科专业和报考专业的准备。口语测试时老师有可能要求你就本专业展开话题,考查你用英语讲解陌生概念的能力。因此考生对此要有所准备,先用笔头组织这些问题的要点,然后再以这些词组组织语言。在阅读专业文献时,也要多积累一些专业方面的英语词汇。当然提问的问题不可能难度太高。另外,大家在假期应该多读一些跟自己专业相关的外文资料,以及导师的学术论著,这些都会对后期的复试有很大帮助。
备注:在此我们只是根据研究生复试时各学校的基本情况进行的总结,各位学员应该及早询问自己的专业咨询师,根据自己报考院校的具体情况制定自己的复试准备方向。
一、了解口语考试
1.口试试卷形式与内容
外语口试一般旨在考查考生的英语口语交际能力。从大纲要求上看,考研英语口试的测试点恰恰是口语交际能力。什么是口语交际能力呢?具体地讲,考研英语的考生应该有能力参与一般性或专业学术话题的讨论,不仅能够询问事实,还能询问抽象的信息。能够就某一观点的正确与否进行争论,详细说明一个问题,一个过程或一个事件。此外还能就某个一般性问题或所熟悉领域的问题进行阐述。考生应该能够做到下列方面:
(1)使用适当、精确的口语表达思想,并能够表达出较长的、内容较连贯、达意的话语,中途由于考虑措辞及语言的恰当性可以有正常的迟疑或停顿;
(2)积极地与对话伙伴进行交流,并能够使用有效的交流补救措施来弥补自己在谈话中的过失。
每次口试采取两名口试教师(interlocutors)和两名考生(candidates)的形式。一名口试教师不参与交流,专门进行评分;另一名口试教师主持口试,随时与考生交谈并评分。专门评分的教师所给分数的权重占考生口试成绩的三分之二,主持口试的教师所给分数的权重占考生口试成绩的三分之一。
从具体内容上看:
A节:考查考生作自我介绍的能力。此节中两考生不需要互相交流(如果需要,也可以交流)。该节约需2分钟时间。
B节:考查考生就信息卡上的图片讨论并解决相关问题的能力。本节的形式有解决问题排序、讨论、决策、或两个完全相反的观点阐述自己的观点等。该节约需3分钟时间。
C节:考查考生针对信息卡上的图片进行连续表达及简短讨论的能力。该节约需7分钟时间。

3.口试评分原则与方法
在口试过程中口试教师依照口试评分标准进行评分,而不对两考生的口试情况作任何比较。口试教师依照口试各节的全部考查内容对考生进行口语评价,而且依照其中的某一部分独立评分。
口试时由两名口试教师对考生的口语能力进行评价。不参与交谈的教师根据评分标准中列出的四项内容分项给分。参与交谈的教师只给出一个综合分。
口试教师从以下四方面评价考生口语交际能力。
★语音语调
根据考生为完成口试任务所产出言语的可理解程度评分。其中包括单音的清晰度,连读、失去爆破、重音、节奏、语调是否运用的正确。只要不对理解造成影响,允许考生在英语表达中带有母语口音。
★语法与词汇
根据考生使用语法和词汇的恰当性和准确性评分。要求考生能够运用准确的语法,其中包括时态、语态、主谓一致、单复数、句法结构等是否正确。词汇方面要求单词的恰当性和多样性。允许存在一些不影响理解的错误。
★话语运用
根据考生话语的条理性和连贯性评分。要求考生具有较强的语言运用能力,能够连贯地传递信息、阐述观点等,其讲话的方式是否自然、流畅。允许有个别的不连贯之处。
★互动交际
根据考生相互交流和连续表达,完成交际任务的情况进行评分。要求考生能恰当地进行应答和导入话题,所谈内容是否切题,逻辑性强。在这一方面包括使用功能性语言和方法维持交流或进行交流补救,并能主动地进行讨论和展开话题。允许在交际中因组织思路和语言而出现个别停顿。
 
二、口试技巧点拔
 
1.重视口试第一阶段
 
口试教师在第一阶段最初的1-2分钟大致有两个目的:
 
(1)有些比较随和,善解人意的口试教师会尽量帮助考生放松情绪,克服紧张心理。在请考生坐定后,他们问考生的第一个问题很可能不是我们所期待的:“What’s your name?”或 “Where are you from?”之类的正式问题,而是一个似乎与考试无关的非正式的轻松话题。比如 他/她会像接待来访客人一样轻松地来一句:“It’s a nice day today, isn’t it?” “Your T-shirt looks beautiful!” “How did you come here today?”等等,跟你闲谈上一两句,待你放松之后,再进入正式的面试话题。而我们有些考生被这突如其来的生活话题搞得不知所措,有的竟然哑口无言,目瞪口呆,连一个善意的微笑都没有回应,心里怀疑自己是不是走错了房间... ...要记住口语考试的目的是考查考生在英语国家用英语与人交流的能力或者说口试教师看重的是你的“生存英文”(Survival English)而不是你的“学术英文”(Academic English)。所以这时考生的正确做法应该是顺其自然地与口试教师交谈充分展现你与人顺畅自如的交流能力,既放松自己,又给口试教师留下一个良好的初步印象。比如:
      Interlocutor: “How did you come here today?
 Candidate: “I came here by bus/taxi/bicycle.”
  I: “It’s a nice day today, isn’t it?”
    C: “Yes, it is. It’s the best season of the year.”
      I: “Your T-shirt looks beautiful!” 
     C: “Thanks. This is my favorite one.”
 
     当然,不要期待每个口试教师都会千篇一律地用这种方式开始面试,正像不要期待每个口试教师都用非常正式的问题开始提问一样,要准备迎接各种不同的面孔和问题,口试教师毕竟是人,不是机器。
 
(2)口试教师的第二个目的,同时也是一个顺理成章的结果,是得到有关考生英语水平的初步印象。这一印象对于考生的最后得分至关重要。因为根据心理学测试的结果,一个有经验的面试官可以在口试开始后1-2分钟之内得出对考生评判的结论,而无需等到口试结束。在余下的时间里,口试教师多半都在按照自己初步结论的惯性思维,从考生的回答中有意无意地寻找符合自己所做结论的证据来进一步证实自己的结论是正确的。其实这种思维方式不仅体现在各种口试中,也普遍存在于社会生活的方方面面,我们对于一个人或任何事物在最初接触时形成的第一印象往往是很难改变的,除非发生什么戏剧性的情况,这种印象经常是占据主导地位的。
 这就意味着我们应该特别注意对第一阶段最初几个问题的回答,尽管它们都是非常简单的问题,考生绝不能掉以轻心,忽视对这些简单问题的回答。有些考生在回答这些简单问题时甚至会犯一些低级错误,给口试教师留下不好的第一印象,也影响了自己后面的正常发挥。例如:
 I: “What do you do?”
 C: “I’m talking with you.”
 口试教师明明在问:“你是做什么的?”考生却回答:“我正在跟你谈话。”可以想象,口试教师对这样的回答会产生对考生多么不利的第一印象。
      口语考试应该是不仅用口,还要用心回答每个问题,在回答任何问题时,不要慌慌张张地急于切入主题,大脑中迅速思考一下这个问题可能涉及到的后续问题,尽量把话题引到自己比较熟悉而口试教师又可能感兴趣的话题上,而不要匆忙中为自己设下一个陷阱。比如当口试教师问你曾经做过哪些职业或从事过哪些业余活动时,如果你的回答是“I like singing”就可能被问到更多有关singing的问题,如“who is your favorite singer?” “What is your favorite song?” “Why do you like him/her/it?”等等。这就要求考生在考前要做好相应的准备,并在考试中思维敏捷,随机应变。
 
2.口语练习10步法(英汉同步)
 
(1). We study spoken English so as to make oral communications, so this order of importance of oral English study should be followed: Fluency, Accuracy, and Appropriateness. That is to say, we have to pay more attention to practical communicating ability instead of only laying emphasis on the grammatical correctness. 
 我们学习口语目的是为了与别人进行交流,所以英语口语中的几个要素的重要次序应为:流利-准确-恰当。也就是说,我们应更注重与人交流的能力而不是仅仅把重点放在语法的正确性上。
 
(2). Try to find some partners practicing oral English together and English corner is a good place as where we may exchange English study experience, widen our sight and improve interest in English. 
寻找学伴一起练习口语.英语角是个不错的地方,在那我们不但可以练习口语,还可以交流英语学习经验,开拓视野,提高英语学习兴趣。 
 
(3). If English partners are not easy to get, then we have to create an English environment ourselves by speaking English to ourselves. 
如果找不到学伴或参加英语角的机会很少,那么也没有关系,有很多种方法可以自己练习口语.比如通过自己对自己将英语来创造英语环境.可以对自己描述所看到的景物,英语口述自己正在作的事情。
(4).This method is very effective and easy to insist on--interpreting Chinese-English novels or books. First we read the Chinese parts and then try to interpret them into English and then compare our interpretation with the original versions in the novels or books so that we can find out the mistakes, shortcomings and progresses in our interpretation.
这种方法非常有效且很容易坚持---口译汉英对照(或英汉对照)的小说或其它读物.首先我们先读汉语部分,然后逐句直接口译成英文,完成一小段后,去看书上的对应英文部分并与我们的口译进行比较,我们马上可以发现我们口译的错误,缺点和进步. 
请注意:开始要选择较简单的读物,且应大量做,只做一两篇效果是不明显的.开始可能较慢,费时较多,但请坚持,整体上这是一个加速的过程。 高级阶段请计时练习,以加快反应速度和口语流利度。 
(5).interpreting what you hear---Changing Roles: Three people make a group: one speaks Chinese, one speaks English acting as the foreigner, and one acts as interpreter. Then change roles. This is a good interpreting training method and is good for studying from one another. In addition, it may improve the responding ability and speed of students. The advanced stage of this method is simultaneous interpretation.
听译法-角色互换:三人一组,模拟翻译实战.一人说汉语,一人说英语,扮演老外,一人作翻译.练习一段时间后互换角色.这是一种非常好的翻译训练方法,也是很好的相互学习,取长补短的方法.而且可大大提高反应速度和能力.此法的高级阶段为同声传译,我们可以在听广播或看电视或开会时,把所听内容口译英文。 
(6). Oral composition and 3-minute training method: This method is suitable for intense training. Making an oral composition about a certain topic for one minute for the first time and record the composition on tape at the same time. Then listen to the composition and find out the room for improvement. Then make the same composition for two minutes for the second time and also record it. And at last repeat the above-mentioned for three minutes.
口语作文和3分钟训练法:此法适用于强化训练.找好一个题目作一分钟的口语作文,同时将其录音.听录音,找出不足和错误,就此题目再作两分钟的口语作文,同样录音,再听并找出不足与进步,继续作三分钟口语作文.这是高级口语训练,效果不俗。 
(7). Retelling exercise: Retell some articles or English stories in our own words. 
复述练习:最简单也是最有效的口语学习方法.从治本上攻克英文的方法,特别适合初学者和中级学者,用自己的话背颂所听的英语故事或文章短文,应该大量地练习。 
    (8). If possible, we may read some English tongue twisters loudly and quickly with one or two cakes of candy in our mouth (just as the Chinese cross-talk actors do.) to train our oral cavity muscle and tongues suitable for English pronunciation. 
    如果可能我们也可以大声且快速朗读英文绕口令(就象相声演员练嘴),还可以同时口中含块糖以加大强化训练的力度.这样来强我们的口腔肌肉迅速适应英文发音,使我们的口语相当流利,清晰,而且还有自信。例如: 
☆ A big black bug bit the back of a big black bear. The big black bear bit back the big black bug. 
☆ This fish has a thin fin; That fish has a fat fin; 
☆This fish is a fish that has a thinner fin than that fish. 
    (9). Paying more attention to phrases and small words as one major shortcoming of Chinese English (especially Chinese oral English) is that Chinese students tend to use big words in their oral language, but the idiomatic oral English is abundant with short, active and vivid phrases. And most of such phrases are made of small words. 
    特别注意短语(词组)和小词的运用,中国式的英语尤其是口语一个很大的缺点就是中国学生喜欢用大词,而真正地道的英语口语确是充满着短小,活泼,生动的短语,富有生气。而这些短语大部分有小词构成。 
   (10) Thinking in English.英语思维的培养。 
a.根据大量图片来了解生词的含义,故事的情节.这是少儿英语中常用的方法,也试用于成人. 
b.习惯于使用英-英字典而不是英-汉字典会起相当重要的作用。 
 c.加强听力训练,尤其是听用英语解释英语的课程讲解。 
 d.如果没有机会拥有封闭的语言环境的话, 就最好尝试一下自我封闭语言环境的创造与训练.如:强迫自己在一周内所有要表达的话,全部用英语表达.只要你能坚持一周,效果就相当明显,而无论你所表达的英语有多糟!

Yes, it is very important. For example, I want to look for some learning materials or information on-line. I can open the browser and visiting google.com. If I use keyword in Chinese, the amount of what I get is much less than in English.
However, information is essential for the research. So I believe English is essential for me. I will try my best to improve my English, especially improve my speaking and listening.

13. What can you tell me about yourself? (关于你自己,你能告诉我些什么?)
 
This is not an invitation to give your life history. The interviewer is looking for clues about your character, qualifications, ambitions, and motivations.
 
  这一问题如果面试没有安排自我介绍的时间的话。这是一个必问的问题。考官并不希望你大谈你的个人历史。是在寻找有关你性格、资历、志向和生活动力的线索。来判断你是否适合读MBA。
 
The following is a good example of a positive response. 
"In high school I was involved in competitive sports and I always tried to improve in each sport I participated in. As a college student, I worked in a clothing store part-time and found that I could sell things easily. The sale was important, but for me, it was even more important to make sure that the customer was satisfied. It was not long before customers came back to the store and specifically asked for me to help them. I'm very competitive and it means a lot to me to be the best."
 
下面是一个积极正面回答的好例子:"在高中我参加各种竞争性体育活动,并一直努力提高各项运动的成绩。大学期间,我曾在一家服装店打工,我发现我能轻而易举地将东西推销出去。销售固然重要,但对我来说,更重要的是要确信顾客能够满意。不久便有顾客返回那家服装店点名让我为他们服务。我很有竞争意识,力求完美对我很重要。"
14. " What would you like to be doing five years after graduation?"(在毕业以后5年内你想做些什么?)
  Know what you can realistically accomplish. You can find out by talking to others about what they accomplished in their first five years with a particular company after graduation.
 
   "I hope to do my best I can be at my job and because many in this line of work are promoted to area manager, I am planning on that also."
 
  你要清楚你实际上能胜任什么。你可以事先和其他人(已经毕业的师哥/师姐)交流一番。问问他们在毕业后在公司的头5年都做了些什么。
 
可以这样回答:"我希望能在我的职位上尽力做好工作,由于在同一领域工作的许多人都被提为区域负责人,所以我亦有此打算。"
15. "What is your greatest strength"? (你最突出的优点是什么?)
 
这是很多面试考官喜欢问的一个问题。
 
  This is a real opportunity to toot your own horn. Do not brag or get too egotistical, but let the employer know that you believe in yourself and that you know your strengths.
 
  "I feel that my strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done. I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I finish a job and it turns out just as I'd planned. I've set some high goals for myself. For example, I want to graduate with highest distinction. And even though I had a slow start in my freshman year, I made up for it by doing an honor's thesis."
 
  这是你"展示自己"的最佳机会,不要吹嘘自己或过于自负,但要让雇主知道你相信自己,你知道自己的优点。

16. "What is your greatest weakness?"(你最大的弱点是什么?)
 
  You cannot avoid this question by saying that you do not have any, everyone has weaknesses.
 
  The best approach is to admit your weakness but show that you are working on it and have a plan to overcome it. If possible, cite a weakness that will work to the study’s advantage. "I' m such a perfectionist that I won't stop until a job is well done.
 
  你不应该说你没有任何弱点,以此来回避这个问题;每个人都有弱点。最佳策略是承认你的弱点,但同时表明你在予以改进,并有克服弱点的计划。
 
可能的话,你可说出一项可能会给研究/学习带来好处的弱点,如可说:"我是一个完美主义者。工作做得不漂亮,我是不会撒手的。"
17. "How do you feel about your progress to date?" ("对于你至今所取得的进步你是怎样看的?")
 
Never apologize for what you have done.
 
  "I think I did well in school. In fact, in a number of courses I received the highest exam scores in the class." "As an intern for the X Company, I received some of the highest evaluations that had been given in years.
 
  绝不要对你以前的所作所为表示内疚。

------some people say there is no absolute truth because “truth” is defined by people and there is no objectivity whenever people are involved. Does absolute truth exist or not? Why?

7. What do you think of the heated debated issue of XXX?
 
  在面试快结束的时候,一般考官都会问,你有没有什么要问的。除非你是最后一个面试者,你明显感到所有的考官都急切的想离开,一般不适合说“I don’t have any question.”可以问考官一两个你关心的问题(Questions you should ask the recruiter):
 
8. Which is the best course in our school? (什么课程是我们院最好的课程)
9. Does our school provide some guidance of job to XXX?
 
 最后可以说:Thank you for giving me the chance. I hope to see you again and soon. (谢谢您给我机会,我希望很快能再见到您。)
 
2. 常用询问话语:
由于紧张,难免面试老师的话听不清楚,千万不要不好意思再次询问,当然也不能就一个问题一直问个不停,对于自己不清楚的问题一定要勇于承认,免得弄巧成拙。
