 In the above drawing, there is a balanced scale, of which value is put on one side while a man's contribution on the other side. What this picture reveals is that a man's value should be measured by his contribution.

In reality, however, our society is one in which the worth of a man is far more frequently measured by his accomplishments such as a successful career and wealth. Consequently, more and more people tend to pursue

nothing but fortune and fame. This is not only because of people's selfish nature but also their mindset. 

Just as Albert Einstein, the most influential physicist of the 20th century, put it "The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive." In addition to being responsible for ourselves, one also has responsibility for the society. To change one's mindset is difficult, yet one has to realize that however small, any contribution made will add value to the life of others, including our own, and thus contribute to building a more harmonious society.
