解放军文职招聘考试英语作文8
In this cartoon, a man praises the other man, disguised under a loose coat, for his burly figure without noticing his bony legs hidden by a desk. The cartoon informs us that one should never rush into a conclusion before possessing a full understanding of the whole thing.
Just as William Shakespeare, the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist, wrote in The Merchant of Venice, So may the outward shows be least themselves The world is still deceived with ornament. Appearances can be very deceitful and can easily fool the common people if they are not paying enough attention. This is mainly because many people tend to be influenced by their first impression of people and things. However, perception and reality don't always match up. For example, a piece of fruit may look delicious on the outside, but the inside may be rotten. For another, it takes time to truly know someone especially when they want to disguise themselves for certain aims.
To sum up, in order to make correct judgments, we need to see through the appearance to perceive the essence and do not judge a book by its cover.
