Why I Attended College?
Why did I choose to attend college?Is the fouryear academic life worthwhile?I had put these questions to myself many times in the past two years,and now I have reached the conclusion that college education is something that I truly want and it is worthwhile.
I chose to attend college because I enjoy learning.I felt that I wanted to continue to study.I simply couldn’t end my education upon graduation from the high school and enter the working world so soon.I chose to attend college also because I feel college is more than a place which offers knowledge.It also exposes one to a rich variety of ideas and help.Finally,I feel that in today’s world,a college education has become almost essential if one wishes to compete in the job market.Attending college is a practical and necessary step to ensure a secure future for myself.
For these reasons,I never consider myself unhappy,miserable or unfairly burdened,and I never think attending college is a waste of time and money.
本文引言段提出“为什么上大学?”及“上大学是否值得?”的问题，并对此作出明确回答，点明了文章主题。第二段是主体段，分别从不同角度论证文章主题，陈述上大学的理由。诸如自身喜欢学习、大学不仅提供知识还是展示不同的观点的场所、大学毕业后更容易找工作等。文章主体部分要紧扣主题，不可涉及无关的新问题。第三段是结尾段，用简洁的语句概括、总结全文的中心思想，用不同的方式重述引言段提出的主题，本段中说“上大学对我而言不是负担，更不是浪费时间”，使文章主题得以再现。
以上是文章的三大结构，也就是三段式，正如汉语文章一样，都有“启、承、转、合”，其中“转”根据文章的发展也可以没有。
