　　三、通过因果关系解题

　　例题：Curbs on business-method claims would be a dramatic about-face, because it was the federal circuit itself that introduced such patents with its 1998 decision in the so-called state Street Bank case, approving a patent on a way of pooling mutual-fund assets.

　　28.The word “about-face” (Line 1, Para. 3) most probably means

　　解题：根据题干关键词“about-face”定位到“Curbs on business-method claims would be a dramatic about-face, because...”，问题中的“about-face”在一个因果关系句中，故可通过因果关系解。该句句意为“对于商业方法专利的抑制是一个戏剧性的about-face,因为是巡回法院它自己在1998年决定中引进的该案例...”由此可知，前面是对商业方法专利的抑制，后面是引进，前后为态度的变化，故答案为C项“态度的变化”。

　　四、通过总分关系解题

　　例题：As a result , the modern world is increasingly populated by intelligent gizmos whose presence we barely notice but whose universal existence has removed much human labor. Our factories hum to the rhythm of robot assembly arms.Our banking is done at automated teller terminals that thank us with mechanical politeness for the transaction. Our subway trains are controlled by tireless robot-drivers .

　　解题：根据题干中关键词“gizmos”定位到“As a result , the modern world is increasingly populated by intelligent gizmos whose presence we barely notice but whose universal existence has removed much human labor.”句意为“因此，现代世界被智能的gizmo所充斥着，他们的出现我们几乎注意不到，但是他们广泛的存在已经移除了大量人类劳动力。”单从该句我们看不出“gizmo”到底为哪个选项，通过观察，后面三个句子结构相似“our factories...,our banking..., our subway trains...”这三个句子为具体论据，证明段落第一句话的论点，论点和论据是一种一致性的关系，故可以通过论据推测论点中的“gizmos”。论据中的“our factories,our banking ,our subway trains”对应的是论点中的“the modern world”，论据中的“robot arms, automated terminals, robot-drivers”对应的是论点中的“intelligent gizmos”,这些都是“智能设备”，故答案为C项“装置，设备”。
