 Good morning/afternoon, everyone! I'm very glad to stand here to share my teaching design. Today, my topic is Unit 3 I'm more outgoing than my sister. I am going to talk about my teaching plan from the following aspects.

1. Analysis of the teaching material

Firstly, I'd like to say something about my teaching content.

This lesson is taken from the PEP English book the first semester of Grade 8, unit 3, section B. It is a listening class and mainly talks about personalities. The topic is close to students' daily life. After this class, students will learn some expressions to describe personalities of their friends and be aware of the importance of friendship.

2. Analysis of the students

Then let's come to the student of this class. Students in grade 8 of senior high school must have their own friends and have their own ideas about what kind of friend they need, which will help them get involved in today's topic. But their spoken English still need improving so I will give them more chances to express their opinions on friends in English.

3. Analysis of the teaching aims

As for my teaching aims, I set the following three-dimensional objectives according to the New Curriculum Standard.

Knowledge aim: students will master words and expressions about qualities of a friend such as "good listener" and "make me laugh".

Ability aim: students are able to talk about their friends with others fluently; can get detailed information in the dialogue through intensive listening.

Emotional aim: students will get more interested in speaking English and learn to love their friends.

4. Analysis of the key and difficult points

Now let's move on to the key and difficult points, they are as follows:

Key point: expressions about qualities of a friend such as "good listener" and "make me laugh"

Difficult point:enable students to talk about qualities of their friends in daily life and learn to admire their friends.

5. Analysis of teaching and study methods

In order to achieve the aims above, I will use various teaching and study methods, such as audio-lingual method, situational teaching method, and cooperative learning method.

6. Analysis of the teaching procedures

Next, I will introduce the most important part of my lesson: my teaching procedures. It consists of the following 5 steps:

Step 1 warming up

Before the class, I will sing a song "Auld Lang Syne" to students and ask them what the song is about. Then ask students whether students are important in their lives or not and why. They can have a free talk about their best friends.

Here I use a song about friendship to arouse students' interest and create a relaxing atmosphere for the class, then i can lead to my topic naturally.

Step 2 pre-listening

In this step, i will organize a discussion: what kind of things are important in a friend? Show qualities in 1a on the screen and let students rank them with 1-7 and 1 is the most important thing. After 3 minutes, invite some students to share their opinions in front of the class using sentences pattern in 1b.

Teaching expressions about personality will equip students with more material about how to describe their friends, which will lay a foundation for listening activities.

Step 3 while-listening

I will introduce the background of the conversation: It is about an interviewer talking with Molly and Mary about their friends. Then listen to the tape twice.

For the first time, I will ask students to listen to it extensively and find out what Molly and Mary like about their friends. Put the chart of 1c on the blackboard and students are required to fill in the first column . After that, invite a student to give the answer.

Then ask students to listen to it carefully and find out similarities and differences between the two girls and their friends. Finish the rest of he chart. After listening, invite some students to come to the front and write down their answers on the blackboard.

According to the New Curriculum Standard, the teacher should change from the knowledge importer to guider of students' study. Therefore, In this part, I guide students to get useful information in listening material by giving them some listening strategy.

Step 4 post-listening

After listening, in order to help them apply the expressions we learned into practice, I will ask students to do a survey in group of four about similarities and differences between you and your best friend. Give them 8 minutes and after that, ask some groups to do a report. I will also give them some positive evaluations on their performance.

The group work will not only cultivate their team spirit but also help open their mouth to express themselves. Besides, students are in the developing stage and a teacher should give some positive evaluations to encourage them and build up their confidence of learning English.

Step 5 summary and homework

At last I will summary what we have learned today for students and leave some homework: introduce your best friend to your parents using expression and sentences in his class.

By doing so, students can consolidate today's key points and the will be aware of applying English into daily life.

7. Analysis of the blackboard Design

A clear and well-structured blackboard design will benefit my students a lot, hence the following blackboard design will be presented to them.
